NEWS AND NOTES

WELCOME

Welcome to the 59th opening of the Tiny Tot School Year.
During the two weeks we were closed the school was painted, the floors
were stripped and waxed, the carpets and blinds were cleaned.
Our teachers worked very hard putting the rooms back together and preparing
for the children’s return. A big thank you to each and every one of them
for their hard work and generous hearts.

The first week was very calm.
The children are adjusting to their new classrooms,
and for some the first days at Tiny Tot.

Miss Shannon has returned to our five year old room.

We welcome Miss Angie and Miss Robyn back to our four year old class.
Miss Ying will be with Miss Robyn from 3:30 to 5:30.

A big welcome to Miss Becky our new co-teacher in the three year old room.
Becky, the mother of five comes to us with 20 years experience.
Miss Becky and Miss Lorina and Miss Lily are in the three year old room.
They have rearranged their room and have wonderful plans for the very busy three year olds.

Miss Lori, Miss Anna and Miss Julie are with our “littlest tots.”

We are so fortunate to have this wonderful, competent and dedicated staff
at Tiny Tot Preschool and Kindergarten.

A SPECIAL NOTE FROM OUR DIRECTOR:

Dear Parents, Teachers and Friends,

We are going to have a six month project I am really excited about.

A Tiny Tot Cook Book is one of the many ideas we have to celebrate our 60th Anniversary! That’s right….1948 this all began. Of course there wouldn’t be a Tiny Tot without all our wonderful families. We are asking you for your favorite recipes. To make it easy we are asking you for just a few recipes a month. We have a category for every month

September is Snacks and Starters (Appetizers.)

                                          October is Soup, Salads, Sandwiches

November is Main Meal, Beef, Chicken, Fish, etc

                                          December is Vegetables/ Side dishes

                                          January is Sweet Sensations

February is Beverages, Hot or Cold, Child or Adult

We will submit our recipes by March 1, 2008 to the printing company and they will be available for Mother’s Day. Please type your recipes and include your name, child’s name and age.

Please submit your recipes to your child’s teacher, the office, or by US mail. We will remind you every month. This is truly an ongoing project.

Thank you for your participation,

Bonnie Shanahan
Director

"JUST A FEW REMINDERS"

TINY TOT WILL BE CLOSED ON
Monday, September 3rd
in honor of Labor Day

What your child wears to
school can make a significant
difference in his/her day.
Please have your children
wear gym shoes.
Choose clothes that are soft
and flexible. This allows your
child to run, climb, peddle
without restriction.
We don’t have to dress up for school.
We encourage you to send your
child in clothing that can and will
get dirty. A young child’s work
and play is active and messy.
Leave jewelry at home.
Necklaces, bracelets and rings
can get caught on play equipment
and cause injury to your child.
Also jewelry can get lost or broken
and we all feel bad.

The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) that
we started on May 1st has been a great success.
Thank you for filling out the forms.
The children are receiving a nutritious breakfast,
lunch and snack. It has given them an opportunity to try new and different nutritious foods every day.
Breakfast is served between 8:30 and 8:45 in the fours and fives and between 8:45-9:00 in the toddlers and threes. Please have your child at school by that time so they can take advantage of a "yummy" breakfast.

No over the counter medication
will be given without a note or fax
from the doctor.
We will administer only prescription
medication in the original container
with your written consent.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

One of the best gifts to your child is
a lifelong love of reading, and that begins
by reading out loud every day.
It’s never too early to start, and it’s
the single most important thing
you can do to help your child
build his literacy skills.
Research shows that children
who have been read to
since their earliest years do better
in reading than their peers
who haven’t had the same advantage
-and the edge persists
all the way to high school.

Most libraries today have
wonderful children’s section
and even story hours.
It’s a great field trip.

Happy reading!

The Joy of Reading!

Please wash your child’s hands
when you bring your child to school.
It is  the single most important
thing we can do to prevent
the spread of germs.
