NEWS AND NOTES

Zooming back in   for another fun year!

Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 57th opening of the Tiny Tot School Year. During the two weeks we were closed the school was painted, the floors were stripped and waxed and new equipment and toys were replaced.  Our teachers worked very hard putting the rooms back together and preparing for the children’s return.  A big thank you to each and every one of them for their hard work and generous hearts.
The first two weeks have been very calm. The children are adjusting to their new classrooms, and for some the first days at Tiny Tot.

Miss Shannon is returned to our
five year old room after a
summer of fun and travel.
We are very happy to have her back.

Our pre-kindergarten class is under
the loving guidance
of Miss Kathy and Miss Meghan.

Miss Michelle and Miss Ramzi  have rearranged their room and have wonderful plans for the very busy three year olds. Miss Rebecca is here in the afternoon.

Miss Nicole, Miss Lori and Miss Robyn
are with our “littlest tots.”

We are so fortunate to have this wonderful,
competent and dedicated staff
and Tiny Tot Preschool and Kindergarten.

"JUST A FEW REMINDERS"

TINY TOT WILL BE CLOSED ON
Monday, September 5th
in honor of Labor Day

What your child wears to
school can make a significant
difference in his/her day.
Please have your children
wear gym shoes.
Choose clothes that are soft
and flexible. This allows your
child to run, climb, peddle
without restriction.
We don’t have to dress up for school.
We encourage you to send your
child in clothing that can and will
get dirty. A young child’s work
and play is active and messy.
Leave jewelry at home.
Necklaces, bracelets and rings
can get caught on play equipment
and cause injury to your child.
Also jewelry can get lost or broken
and we all feel bad.

Breakfast is between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m.

OUR FALL FUND RAISER

Fundraisers are an important part
of our budget and help offset the cost
of replacing equipment or very expensive items. Last year your support helped
to pay for our new windows. We have
chosen the Midland Fund’s
“Spirit of the Season”
as our fall fund raiser.
The catalogs have a wonderful selection
of little treasures and good things to eat.
Two of my favorites are the
Chocolate Almond Bark and the Raspberry Daisies. { I’m a chocolate expert!}
This is a good time to get some
holiday shopping done.
Your support has always been
overwhelming and we appreciate
all your efforts.
Please show the brochure to friends,
families, neighbors and co-workers.
Collect money when taking orders and
make checks out to Tiny Tot.
Selling dates are
September 6th through September 20th
Please return the order form and money
to school on or before September 20, 2005. Candy and treasures will be
delivered before Thanksgiving.

The class with the most sales
will have a pizza party.

No over the counter medication will be given without a note or fax from the doctor.
We will administer only prescription medication in the original container
with your written consent.

I came across an excellent article  about
"
The 15 Biggest Safety Mistakes" in your home.
Got a minute? Check it out!

As a culminating activity for
the Summer Program Tiny
Tot had a visit from Adam Flowers, Master Illusionist.
He spent 30 minutes
amazing us with rope tricks, disappearing scarves and
dice and he even punctured a balloon without popping it. It was a great way to end the summer!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

One of the best gifts to your child is a lifelong love of reading, and that begins by reading out loud every day. It’s never too early to start, and it’s the single most important thing you can do to help your child build his literacy skills. Research shows that children who have been read to since their earliest years do better in
reading than their peers who haven’t had
the sane advantage-and the edge persists
all the way to high school.

Most libraries today have wonderful children’s section
and even story hours. It’s a great field trip.

Happy reading!

BE MY FRIEND

Friendships are more than just fun; they are an important part
of your child's social and emotional development.  If fact, childhood
friendships help children learn the social skills they will use in later
relationships in life.  Some children make friends easily and naturally.
But for others, making friends is harder.
Usually young children need help in forming friendships and learning
how to behave with friends.  Under the age of three, don't expect
your child to share with a friend.  And often, very young children
won't play with each other; they will play next to each other.
Teaching HOW to be a friend is much harder that it seems.
Talk about the concepts and feelings of friendship for a few minutes
each day.  Here are some ideas to talk about.

A friend is a god listener.
A friend makes you smile.
A friend is helpful.
A friend shares.
A friend is someone who cares.
A friend can be a boy or a girl.
A friend likes you just the way you are.
A friend is proud of you.

I came across a great article from MSN about
10 Ways to Motivate Your Child To Learn.
Check it out!

Please wash your child’s hands
when you bring him/her to school.
It is  the single most important
thing we can due to prevent the spread of germs.

WHAT'S HAPPENING...

Our Teddy Bears, the two's ...
used watercolor paints to create these beautiful jellyfish.
During Zoo Week we glued black stripes onto white horse cutouts to make zebras.
After talking about all of the animals that we commonly see at the zoo, we used
colorful animal cutouts, glitter, feathers and yarn to create this zoo scene.
We also used different shades of brown paint to create these lion faces.
When the paint dried, they added google eyes and whiskers.
During Water Week, we mixed water, Kool-Aid and paint together to create a
smelly mixture that was used to create these great pictures.
We had blast creating these beautiful bubble pictures.
A mixture of soap, water and powdered tempera paints were used.

The Bunny Bunch, the threes ...
During Under the Sea Week we made under the sea scenes.
We also made paper plate rainbow fish.
During Summer Foods Week we created ice cream blobs.
We also made paper plate watermelons.
We had fun squeezing lemons and making our own lemonade.

Our 4's, our Junior Kindergarten ...
during Zoo Week made many animal thermometers.
We had "Fun in the Sun" with our home-made sun catchers.
Butterfly Week was a great learning experience, we watched the metamorphosis
of caterpillar to butterfly and then we made our own butterflies.
During Dinosaur Week our young anthropologists made dinosaur fossils.
We had fun using bingo dabbers to make these colorful creations.

Our 5's, our Kindergartener's...
have been working on their table manners. A sticker indicates
that our table manners are right on target! A check shows that we need to
work a little harder and an "X" means that we forgot them.
We are learning that manners matter.
For Luau Week we made these tropical sun catchers.
During Farm Week we made these cool bumblebee thermometers.
We finger-painted these pictures and had a lot of fun mixing colors.
During Dinosaur Week we each colored what we
thought we would look like if we were dinosaurs.
We took construction paper and whatever we could find to make these great collages.
