NEWS AND NOTES

FIRE PREVENTION WEEK!
October 10-14

During Fire Prevention Week we will all practice our fire safety rules.
We will have a fire drill and hope to have a visit from our friendly neighborhood fireman
to show us his equipment and talk about what to do in case of a fire at your house.
We want them to run toward the fireman,
not away from him in fear, in case of emergency.

THIS IS A GOOD TIME TO CHECK YOUR SMOKE DETECTORS!!!

We will start our food, clothing and home goods drive for Monique and her family
on October 3rd. Pickup will be October 12th.
To find out more about Monique and her family,
check out
"Monique's Corner" .

The 4's and 5's are Going on a Field Trip to....
The Grove.... in Glenview On
October 11th.
We will be going on the Pumpkin Trail.
What better way to celebrate fall?
Your children will be going on a hayride,
play festive games, see a decorated tipi
and visit with the animals in the Interpretative Center.
They will even be able to select and bring home
their very own pumpkin.
What a Great Trip!

    Wednesday, October 13th
will be
Picture Day.

The photographer will begin
taking pictures as soon as your child arrives.
The pictures will arrive
before Christmas.
They make great holiday gifts.

On Wednesday, October 26th
the
Twos and Three year old classes
will host a pot luck dinner.
All of our parents are asked to bring
one of their favorite dishes:
Entrée, salad, side dish or desert.
We will have plates, napkins, and refreshments.
We will start our evening at 6:00 p.m.
The evening will give us a chance to relax, socialize,
have dinner, and share a few laughs.
Brothers and sisters are most welcome.

Our Halloween Party
will be on Monday, October 31st.
The children should come dressed in their costumes over their clothes.  Remember they will be in them for the morning, so please make them comfortable.  We discourage the wearing of Power Rangers and violent action heroes. We will have our parties in the morning and remove costumes before lunch. If you wish, you may bring an individually wrapped treat for your child to hand out on that day.  Ask your child's teacher how many children are in the class. The children will each have a goodie bag to take home.

Parent Tips for Halloween

·  Make your child eats dinner before setting out.

·  Ideally, young children of any age should be
    accompanied by an adult.

·  If you buy a costume, look for one made of
   flame-retardant material.

·  Although tampering is rare, tell children to bring the
candy home to be inspected before consuming anything.

·  Look at the wrapping carefully and toss out anything
   that looks suspect.
