NEWS AND NOTES

FIRE PREVENTION WEEK!
October 4-10

During Fire Prevention Week we will all practice our fire safety rules.
We will have a fire drill and hope to have a visit from our friendly neighborhood fireman
to show us his equipment and talk about what to do in case of a fire at your house.
We want them to run toward the fireman,
not away from him in fear, in case of emergency.

THIS IS A GOOD TIME TO CHECK YOUR SMOKE DETECTORS!!!

The 4's and 5's are Going on a Field Trip to....
Didier Farms in ....
Prairie View, Illinois on Tuesday, October 6th.
We'll be going on a hayride to the Pumpkin Patch.
We'll get to pick a pumpkin, go to the Petting Zoo
and for a pony ride.  We're even going to get
a Trick or Treat bag with a Didier Farm Activity Book.
What a Great Trip!

Wednesday, October 14th
will be
Picture Day.
The photographer will begin
taking pictures as soon as your child arrives.
The pictures will arrive
before Christmas.
They make great holiday gifts.

DON'T FORGET TO "FALL BACK" ON NOVEMBER 1st
Turn those clocks back!

Our Halloween Party will be on Friday, October 30th. The children should come dressed in their costumes over their clothes.  Remember they will be in them for the morning, so please make them comfortable.  We discourage the wearing of Power Rangers and violent action heroes. We will have our parties in the morning and remove costumes before lunch. If you wish, you may bring an individually wrapped treat for your child to hand out on that day.  Ask your child's teacher how many children are in the class. The children will each have a goodie bag to take home.

Parent Tips for Halloween

·  Make your child eats dinner before setting out.

·  Ideally, young children of any age should be

accompanied by an adult.

·  If you buy a costume, look for one made of flame-

retardant material.

·  Although tampering is rare, tell children to bring the

candy home to be inspected before consuming
    anything.

·  Look at the wrapping carefully and toss out anything
    that looks suspect.

WHAT'S HAPPENING...

Our Teddy Bears, the two's ...
It's been a great start to our new year!
In September we talked about how we are all different & all special,
who is in our families, what we like to do while we are at school,
playing nice with our friends & who we see in our neighborhoods.
Next month we will start talking about Fall!
Our Halloween party will be on Friday, October 30th.
More info to come! :)

The Bunny Bunch, the threes ...
The three's have been very busy so far, getting to know each other and learning classroom rules.
We have been busy reviewing our colors and learning our letters, numbers and shapes.
We've made many cooking projects, our favorite was applesauce in a crock pot.
October will be a fun-filled time for the three's,
we will be doing activities about Fall, pumpkins, manners, and Halloween.
The school year is off to a great start with a great fun loving group of children.

Our 4's, our Junior Kindergarten ...
have been very busy since school started.
They dove right into working on many activities.
Their letter of the week project is going great!
The children really enjoy their letter art each Monday.
For the first week, we talked all about the things that make each of us special and unique.
We made self-portraits that showed the color of our eyes and hair.
The second week, we talked all about how our families are similar and different.
The third week, we talked about our school.  We learned about how many levels there are of school,
from preschool all the way to college.
We made school houses and school bells.

Our 5's, our Kindergartener's...

In September we got back to school with new hunger for knowledge and happy Tiny Tot time!
We learned all about ourselves and how unique and special our fingerprints are;
about all the friends in the room and about our families.
We had a great Tea Party with our Grandparents and everybody made a family tree.
We learned about our countries/continents of origin and studied the world map with great interest!
We also started to talk about the fall because we love it so much!
We are learning to read and write and having fun with our scrapbooking diary project!
An exciting and favorite month is approaching!
In October we will learn all about harvest and fall happenings,
why the leaves change color and is the autumn the same in different places.
We will go to a Pumpkin Patch and have the greatest time!
We will talk about Columbus and his discovery and about all discoveries in general
and of what importance they are for the science and humanity.
Don’t forget the Picture Day on Wednesday, October 14th and bring your smiles for it!
This month we will also learn all about nocturnal animals and have our spooky Halloween party!
You are all welcome to be there on Friday, October 30th from 9:30 to 10:30 in the 4’s room!
