   FIRE PREVENTION WEEK!
October 4-8

During Fire Prevention Week we will all practice our fire safety rules.
We will have a fire drill and soon have a visit from our friendly neighborhood fireman
to show us his equipment and talk about what to do in case of a fire at your house.
He will come in as a dad, dress up as a fireman and then leave as a dad.
We hope that the children will see that under all of that equipment there is
a dad or mom who is there to help them.  We want them to run toward the fireman,
not away from him in fear, in case of emergency.

CHECK YOUR SMOKE DETECTORS!!!

4's AND 5's  ARE
GOING ON A FIELDTRIP

The 4's and 5's are going to
Goeberts Pumpkin Farm on

PLEASE DRESS FOR THE WEATHER!

DON'T FORGET TO "FALL BACK" ON OCTOBER 31st

Our Halloween Party will be on Friday, October 29th.  The children should come dressed in their costumes over their clothes.  Remember they will be in them for the morning, so please make them comfortable.  We discourage the wearing of Power Rangers and violent action heroes. We will have our parties in the morning and remove costumes before lunch. If you wish, you may bring an individually wrapped treat for your child to hand out on that day.  Ask your child's teacher how many children are in the class. The children will each have a goodie bag to take home.

Parent Tips for Halloween

·  Make your child eat dinner before setting out.

·  Ideally, young children of any age should be
     accompanied by an adult.

·  If you buy a costume, look for one made of flame-
     retardant material.

·  Although tampering is rare, tell children to bring the
candy home to be inspected before consuming
    anything.

·  Look at the wrapping carefully and toss out anything
    that looks suspect.

WHAT'S HAPPENING...

Our Teddy Bears, the two's ...
during "Family" Week we learned that families are made of adults and children,
some families are large and some are small.
In "Color" Week we began learning the primary colors, red, yellow and blue.
We learning that mixing two primary colors produces another color
and color helps our world to be be more attractive.
During "Pet" Week we learned that pets are animals that live
in people's home, pets need food, water and lover and pets
always do need to be handled carefully.
We talked about our basic shapes, circle, square, triangle and rectangle,
we learned that they come in different sizes and saw shapes in our world.

The Bunny Bunch, the threes ...
during " Fire Prevention" Week we made fire pictures using string painting.
We also made our family trees during "All About Me" Week
and we made apples for "Apple" Week.

Our 4's, our Junior Kindergarten ...
had fun telling us all about their family members.
We also fingerpainted with fall colors our upper and lower case "D"s.
What begins with the letter "B"? Working independently our Junior Kindergarten
colored only the items that began with "B".

Our 5's, our Kindergartener's...
talked about fire safety and made fire paintings by having the children blow air through
straws to spread the flames on the houses they had colored.
This year we will be using a stoplight to track how we follow the rules.
Students that remain on green have followed classroom rules.
Students on yellow need to slow down and think about their actions.
Students on red need to STOP inappropriate behaviors.
We also had a chance to observe and interact with live worms.
We watched to see how they reacted when we touched them
with our fingers and with ice cubes.
