NEWS AND NOTES

Dear Parents,
Now that the cold weather has arrived, we would like to remind you to please dress your children appropriately for the weather. With the exception of extremely cold or damp days, we do have outside time everyday. The length of outdoor play will vary according to weather and temperature. Due to child/staff ratio requirements, children may not be kept indoors due to illness and should remain home if unable to go outside. Please be sure your children have winter coats, hats, mittens, and boots to keep them warm and dry. If your child wears boots, please bring another pair of shoes for your child to change into. Our heat is in the floors and their feet can get very warm. Some parents bring slippers for inside wear. Please label these items with your child’s name to avoid confusion. It is not unusual for several children to have the same boots, mittens, hats and slippers.
On the subject of clothes, please check your child’s box of extra clothing. They have grown since August, and shorts and warm weather clothing won’t keep our little ones warm. As a reminder, every child should have at least two complete changes of clothing. Socks too!
Our field trip to the pumpkin patch was great fun. The children returned with many stories and pumpkins, The day was just perfect. Thank you to all our parents who joined in our fun. We couldn’t do it without you.
On Wednesday, November 7th, we will have the Child ID Program at school. This is a wonderful program and I strongly suggest you take advantage of the ID program. Please complete the form and return on or before November 7th.

Picture Day went very smoothly.
 We should have the pictures
the first full week of November.
You will be able to
take the pictures home,
choose what you like
and return the others.

Parent-Teacher Conference Week
starts, November 26th.
The teachers will contact you for a time.
This is a wonderful time to sit down
with your child's teacher
and discuss your child's progress.
The teachers have worked very hard
on the conferences and
are looking forward to spending
a few minutes with each of you.

Some of our parents have scooped the dough
into balls and frozen them.
When you want a warm homemade cookie,
just go from the freezer to the oven to your mouth...yummy!
We need every child to sell a minimum of 8 tubs.
The family that sells the most products
will receive a $50.00 credit toward tuition

will have a pizza party.
We would like to install a security system
on the two back doors.

Count your blessings instead of your crosses.
Count your gains instead of your losses.
Count your joys instead of your woes.
Count your friends instead of your foes.
Count your smiles instead of your tears.
Count your courage instead of your fears.
Count your full years instead of your lean.
Count your kind deeds instead of your mean.
Count your health instead of your wealth.
Count on God instead of your yourself.

WHAT'S HAPPENING...

Our Teddy Bears, the two's ...
started off October talking about what happens in the Fall.  We made a pumpkin patch bulletin board!
Then we talked about "Fall on the farm."
The children had fun playing with the farm and animals; and making the animal sounds.
After that, we talked about "Fall in the City;" trucks, cars, buildings, and played football outside!
Check out the pictures we made by dipping cars into paint.
We ended October with "Spooky Fun Week." Look at those scary ghost handprints!!

The Bunny Bunch, the threes ...
during October talked about Community Helpers , pumpkins and Halloween.
During Community Helper week we talked about all of the helpers in our neighborhood.
We made Community Helpers collage with a police badge and firefighters hats.
During our Fall Week, we made fall leaves and a leaf collage;  we also marble painted leaves.
We even spent some time talking about manners; we sang songs about saying please and thank you.
During Pumpkin Week we made marble paint pumpkins, chalk pumpkins and pumpkin people.
In Science we talked about sink or float. During Halloween Week we made a spider web and a ghost out of chalk.

Our 4's, our Junior Kindergarten ...
spent October in the leaves!  They used their hands to paint leaves on a tree; they sponge painted leaves on a tree,
they even made leaf prints and painted leaves the beautiful colors of Fall.
Check out our "Piggy Pile" hidden among the trees.

Our 5's, our Kindergartener's...
in October for our October Family Project decorated ghosts.
During Fire Safety Week we made fire paintings where we blew through straws to spread paint to look like fire.
We also talked about smoke detectors and color and cut our own smoke detectors.
