REAL MOTHERS
Real Mothers don’t eat quiche;
they don’t have time to make it.
Real mothers know that their kitchen utensils
are probably in the sandbox.
Real Mothers know that dried play dough
doesn’t come out of carpet.
Real Mothers don’t want to know
what the vacuum just sucked up.
Real Mothers sometimes ask “why me?”
and get their answer when a little voice says,
“because I love you best.”
Real Mothers know that a child’s growth is
not measured by height or years or grade.
It is marked by the progression of
Mama to Mommy to Mom…

The Images of Mother:
4 YEARS of AGE My Mommy can do anything!
8 YEARS of AGE My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 YEARS of AGE My Mother doesn’t really know quite
everything.
14 YEARS of AGE Naturally, Mother doesn’t know that, either.
16 YEARS of AGE Mother? She’s hopefully old-fashioned.
18 YEARS of AGE That old woman? She’s way out of date!
25 YEARS of AGE Well, she might know a little bit about it.
35 YEARS of AGE Before we decide; let’s get Mom’s opinion.
45 YEARS of AGE Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?
65 YEARS of AGE Wish I could talk it over with Mom.
ENJOY YOUR PRECIOUS MOMENTS!

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Please mark your calendar.
We have set aside
Wednesday, May 18th,
for
conferences. We
will close at 3:00 p.m.
that day in order to accommodate all of our
families.
The teachers spend a great deal of time preparing
for conferences
and look forward to spending time with you.
Please understand that we also have over 60 conferences
and
it is most important that you honor the time
allotted
and be on time for your meeting.
The teachers will assign you a time and it
will be my job to keep everybody on schedule.
I will interrupt if necessary.
In order to effectively discuss your child's progress
without distraction, we ask that you do not have
your child present at conference time. |

A Note from the
Director:
Flip flops are very popular, but they are not safe for play,
field trips, or activities in the classroom.

Only closed-toe shoes are
allowed at Tiny Tot.
This is a health and safety regulation.
Gym shoes are the shoe of choice.
The only exceptions will be water shoes on water days
and then we will change back into gym shoes.
The children are to wear gym shoes to school.
We can not start changing shoes every day. |

Please refrain from using your
cell phone
when you bring your child to school or pick them up.
Just think of the message you are sending!!!!
Drop off should be a few special minutes of saying goodbye
and pickup should say "I'm glad to see you!"
You can't do that if you are talking on the phone. |

Magic
pickup lotion
Cleanup time is a challenging
time for many parents. Make it a little “magical” for your child by
introducing “magic pickup lotion”. Just rub a little glitter lotion on
his or her hands, and your child will pickup a roomful of toys in no
time at all. You could have even more fun by rubbing a little lotion on
your hands first. Make your hands start to quiver and shake, then zoom
into picking up toys. As with any strategy you try with your child, when
this novelty wears off, put it away for a while. Re-introduce it at a
later time. |

Our Teddy Bears,
the two's ...
In April we talked about...
Gardening: We planted our own flower seed's.
WE are watching them as they grow & plan to give them to someone special
in May.
Also, we painted flowers, created our own flower displays, and had a
vegetable taste test.
Frogs: The children enjoyed seeing our new classroom frog.
We concentrated on the color green, and played with plastic frogs in the
water table.
Turtles: We made turtles out of styrofoam bowls, and had a real turtle
to observe for the week!
Easter: We had a classroom party!
The children went on an egg hunt outside.
We talked about baby animals, and what some are called.
Rabbit=Bunny, Sheep=Lamp etc.
In May we will talk about; Moms, Lions, Tigers & Bears, Ladybugs,
Butterflies and the Ocean & Water. |

Our 4's, our Junior Kindergarten ...
Spring activities filled our days in the month of April. We learned all
about baby animals, turtles, frogs, and birds.
We had a chance to enjoy Snappy, a family’s pet turtle for one week.
We have two new pets of our own, African Dwarf frogs.
We painted on 6”x6” canvasses with acrylic paints for the art show.
The children used a variety of mediums and tools to explore how to
manipulate thick paint and create 3-dimensional art.
We had a wonderful time gathering together with all of the families at
the Art Show.
The children were so proud of their artwork.
We enjoyed our fieldtrip to the play, Click, Clack, Moo that is based on
a children’s book.
We were able to enjoy trips to the park next door as well as going on a
longer nature walk to Emily Oaks and discovering the changes happening
as Spring arrives.
We had a special visitor, Beatrice the Bunny.
She gave us stories about the Easter Bunny, then we dyed eggs and had an
egg hunt on the playground.
Next month, we will focus on our Bird Project by making bird houses,
bird feeders and one big bird bath for the garden that the fives are
beginning.

Our
5's, our Kindergartener's...
In April, we did everything we had planned: we took care of our vegetable
plants and we were so excited they are growing very well;
we learned all about the parts of the plants, and how many different
kinds of them there are.
We learned about soil, earthworms, and insects, and went to explore and
observe them in Emily Oaks Park;
we talked about saving the planet and the things we could do about that in
our everyday lives like turning off the TV,
the lights and water, recycle our garbage and clean up our neighborhood.
Our Art Show went great! Thank you for participating and for coming to
share our love toward art!
We hope we will finally be able to go out and create our garden in May.
We will plant our vegetables, watch them grow, water, and weed them.
We will also plant the flowers in the Butterfly garden.
Weather permitting we will spend more and more time outside- reading
books, playing, and taking care of our garden.
We will do our best in creating beautiful surprises for Mother’s Day.
We will also spend time preparing for our End of the Year Celebration
and learn to be ready for Kindergarten.
Here is a nice web site that you can enjoy with your kids this month:
