REAL MOTHERS
Real Mothers don’t eat quiche;
they don’t have time to make it.
Real mothers know that their kitchen utensils
are probably in the sandbox.
Real Mothers know that dried playdough
doesn’t come out of carpet.
Real Mothers don’t want to know
what the vacuum just sucked up.
Real Mothers sometimes ask “why me?”
and get their answer when a little voice says,
“because I love you best.”
Real Mothers know that a child’s growth is
not measured by height or years or grade.
It is marked by the progression of
Mama to Mommy to Mom…

The Images of Mother:
4 YEARS of AGE My Mommy can do anything!
8 YEARS of AGE My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 YEARS of AGE My Mother doesn’t really know quite
everything.
14 YEARS of AGE Naturally, Mother doesn’t know that, either.
16 YEARS of AGE Mother? She’s hopefully old-fashioned.
18 YEARS of AGE That old woman? She’s way out of date!
25 YEARS of AGE Well, she might know a little bit about it.
35 YEARS of AGE Before we decide; let’s get Mom’s opinion.
45 YEARS of AGE Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?
65 YEARS of AGE Wish I could talk it over with Mom.
ENJOY YOUR PRECIOUS MOMENTS!

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Please mark your calendar.
We have set aside
Tuesday evening, May 11th,
for
conferences.We
will close at 4:00 p.m.
that day in order to accommodate all of our
families.
The teachers spend a great deal of time preparing
for conferences
and look forward to spending time with you.
Please understand that we also have over 60 conferences
and
it is most important that you honor the time
allotted
and be on time for your meeting.
The teachers will assign you a time and it
will be my job to keep everybody on schedule.
I will interrupt if necessary.
In order to effectively discuss your child's progress
without distraction, we ask that you do not have
your child present at conference time.

A Note from the

Flip flops are very popular, but they are not safe for play,
field trips, or activities in the classroom.

Only closed-toe shoes are
allowed at Tiny Tot.
This is a health and safety regulation.
Gym shoes are the shoe of choice.
The only exceptions will be water shoes on water days
and then we will change back into gym shoes.
The children are to wear gym shoes to school.
We can not start changing shoes every day. |

Please refrain from using your
cell phone
when you bring your child to school or pick them up.
Just think of the message you are sending!!!!
Drop off should be a few special minutes of saying goodbye
and pickup should say "I'm glad to see you!"
You can't do that if you are talking on the phone. |

Magic
pickup lotion
Cleanup time is a challenging
time for many parents. Make it a little “magical” for your child by
introducing “magic pickup lotion”. Just rub a little glitter lotion on
his or her hands, and your child will pickup a roomful of toys in no
time at all. You could have even more fun by rubbing a little lotion on
your hands first. Make your hands start to quiver and shake, then zoom
into picking up toys. As with any strategy you try with your child, when
this novelty wears off, put it away for a while. Re-introduce it at a
later time. |

WHAT'S HAPPENING... |
|
|
|
Our Teddy Bears,
the two's ...
We started in April talking about baby animals.
We dug for dog treats in dirt in the sensory table.
Also, we talked about turtles & made our very own by painting styrofoam
bowls.
Adding to the green theme, we later talked about frogs & learned a new
word... tadpole!
We made frog prints by dipping plastic frogs in green paint.
To end our green theme we had lime sherbet floats... yum!
In celebration of Earth day we made Earth & went outside to pick up
litter on our playground.
Lastly we started to talk about gardening & planted some flower seeds,
we are growing them for someone very special! :)

The Bunny Bunch,
the threes ...
The 3's had a great April! We made many cute projects.
We had a cooking project every week from flower cookies to dinosaur
eggs.
During May we will talk about our special mothers.
We will also have separate units to talk and learn about
safety, transportation and community helpers.

Our 4's, our Junior Kindergarten ...
April was a very busy and fun month. We kicked it off
by talking about baby animals and celebrated Easter by dying eggs and
having a “Spring Party.”
Next, we learned all about turtles and frogs.
We displayed our pond full of turtles and frogs on the wall for our art
show.
We celebrated Earth Day and learned about what recycling means and why
it helps keep the Earth clean.
We continued to work on our letter of the week projects, had a very
successful Picture Day,
and have enjoyed our music class each week in preparation for our 'End
Of The Year' Concert!
Next month, we will celebrate Mother’s Day and make special gifts for
our moms,
learn more about the season of Spring and ladybugs.
We will end May with “Wacky Week,” when we have silly themes each day
for the week. |

Our
5's, our Kindergartener's...
In April we did everything we’d planned: we planted our flowers
and vegetable plants and we are so excited they are growing;
we learned all about the parts of the trees and how many different kinds
of them there are;
we learned about the birds and insects and went to explore and observe
them in Emily Oaks Park.
We talked about saving the planet and the things we could do about that
in our everyday lives like turning off the TV,
the lights and water, recycling our garbage and cleaning up our
neighborhood.
We learned about oviparous and viviparous animals and how to distinguish
them.
We also celebrated Passover and went on an egg hunt for Easter- it was
fun!
We paid a visit to our friends across the street in “Robineau” nursing
home
and sang some songs to them to cheer them up!
In May we will have a lot of fun preparing loads of surprises and pretty
gifts to celebrate Mother’s Day!
We will talk again about different kinds of families, our families and
some of our different family traditions.
Then we will learn about the rainforest, the animals that live there and
why it is so important for the Earth.
We will have a visit from Ms. Handler who will talk to us about how to
save our planet;
she is very interesting and fun and we are going to learn a lot from
her!
The last week of May we will talk about pets, what animals we can have
at home,
and how to take care of and be responsible for them.
Here is a nice web site that you can enjoy with your kids this month:
