NEWS AND NOTES

APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS.

DON'T FORGET ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT HOLIDAYS OF THE YEAR....
MOTHER'S DAY!
(May 13th)

TO ALL OUR MOMS
WHAT WE WISH FOR YOU

Today, we wish you a day of ordinary miracles-
A fresh pot of coffee you didn't have to make yourself.
An unexpected phone call from an old friend.
Green stoplights on your way to work or shop.
We wish you a day of little things to rejoice in...
The fastest line at the grocery store.
A good sing along song on the radio.
Your keys right where you look.
We wish you a Day of Peace, Happiness and Joy.
And most of all, hugs and kisses from your child.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Teacher Appreciation Week
May 7-11

What a great opportunity to let the people
who care for your children
know how much you appreciate them.
They have accepted the challenge
of caring and nurturing
your children and are doing a wonderful job.

PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
Mid-May

Parent-Teacher Conferences
are scheduled for mid-May
Watch for a sign up sheet that
will be  posted in your child's classroom.
Even though you see
the teachers every day this is a wonderful time to sit down and discuss your child's progress.
You are your child's first teacher
and a child's best educational
opportunities and future growth
depend on the combined effort
of parent, teacher and student.

WHAT'S HAPPENING...

Our Teddy Bears, the two's ...
talked about birds and butterflies.  Look at these great birds the children painted!
Then we talked about turtles and frogs.  The children painted bowls green to make turtles
and painted green lily pads with frogs!  During "Great Gardens" Week we planted flower seeds
(they are a special present for a certain day in May :)) and we made seed shakers.

The Bunny Bunch, the threes ...
talked  about Spring and how the weather changes.
"We talked about how plants and flowers start blooming and how we see a lot of rain.
The children enjoyed making clouds, raindrops and umbrellas.
We also talked about how animals and birds are active in Spring
and the children decorated their birds. They also made bird feeders for outside.
We talked about transportation, like cars, boats, busses, and airplanes.
The children made sailboats.

Our 4's, our Junior Kindergarten ...
had a lot of sun this month, we learned a lot of new things!
We also welcomed Alex and Terence to our classroom.
During Easter Week we talked about bunnies, colored Easter eggs
and went on an Easter Egg Hunt.  "1,2,3 go find your eggs" Dylan, 3,
told us when we asked what we did during Easter.
During Circus Week we became a circus marching band,
walked a tight rope and became clowns.
"I think we wrote on our faces" Dria, 4, said about what we did during Circus Week.
During Earth Week we learned to keep the earth healthy and clean by
"Reuse, Reduce and Recycle."
"Keeping the earth healthy and clean" said Skyler, 4, on what we learned during Earth Week,
Book-It ends April 30th.  The Fours read over 1300 books.
Together with the Fives we've read over 2750 books.

Our 5's, our Kindergartener's...
for Book-It have read 1450 books!
While talking about plants we made flowers and labeled the parts.
We also used celery as paint brushes and painted pictures with them.
Our monthly family project is a butterfly.
