NEWS AND NOTES

I Love You Mommy
Sung to the tune of
"You are my Sunshine"

I love you mommy
My dearest mommy
You make me happy
When I am sad
I want to tell you
I really love you!
When I'm with you
I am so glad!

PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
May 19th

Parent-Teacher Conferences
are scheduled for Monday, May 19th.
Please sign up for a convenient
time posted in your child's classroom.
Even though you see the teachers
every day this is a wonderful time to sit
down and discuss your child's progress.
You are your child's first teacher
and a child's best educational
opportunities and future growth
depend on the combined effort
of parent, teacher and student.

TEACHER & STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK
May 4-8

While we appreciate our teachers' and staffs' dedicated efforts day after day, we are planning special treats for them this week.  Our teachers and staff are the backbone of this center.  Because of their unconditional love and compassion, your child is in the best place they can be in when they can't be with you.

"The Chicks are Here, the Chicks are Here..."

On April 29th, the eggs arrived and the fours and fives
watched as the eggs were put into the incubator. They will continue to observe them until they hatch into baby chicks.
They saw that the eggs must be put into the slots pointed-side down and that the temperature must be 99.5 degrees
for the chicks to have the best chance to hatch.  They
are now counting the days until the incubator is filled
with baby chicks.  That will be 21 days from April 30th.
Feel free to stop by and take a look in May.

We think Spring is really here.
Please remember that gym shoes are a
safety requirement for outdoor play.

WHAT'S HAPPENING...

Our Teddy Bears, the two's ...
made butterflies, balloons and kites
to bring in Spring.

The Bunny Bunch, the threes ...
show us that Spring has arrived with their newest bulletin board
complete with flowers, birds, bees and our beautiful sun.
Check out our caterpillars, just one of the insects
we'll see as the weather gets warmer.

Our 4's, our Junior Kindergarten ...
talked about their Moms.  They made portraits of their mothers
and made a special surprise for Mother's Day.

Our 5's, our Kindergartener's...
to celebrate Earth Day, made these earth faces.  After learning about pollution
they each made a smiley face on the side of the clean earth and a
sad face on the side covered with garbage.
This month they also painted pictures of nature.
The children painted their favorite object in nature (trees, water, etc.).
We also did a science experiment to show the impact of pollution.
We put red food coloring in water, this represented "pollution".
Then we put a celery stalk (a tree) in our polluted water.
In two days our "tree" turned red and began to wilt.
We then planted flowers to make the earth beautiful.
