NEWS AND NOTES

SPRING, SPRING SPRING.......IT'S COMING !!!!!!!!!!
Don't forget to "Spring" Forward on March 9th!!!

We are hoping that we have seen the last of the cold.
We will be sending slippers and snow gear home the week
of March 17th,  It's time to check your child's extra clothes
box and replace clothing as needed.  The children have grown
and the fall clothes probably won't fit.  We will be outside
on a daily basis and ask you to dress your child appropriately.
Proper shoes are very important for the safety of the children.
Gym shoes are the best.

Easy Organization Tips

By organizing the items and toys in your child's room or play area, you're helping her becomes more independent and resourceful.
Here are four of our favorite ideas:

Save plastic baby-wipe containers to store art supplies like markers, crayons and brushes.  Your child can help decorate and label each container.
Hang hammock-like, stretchy material in a corner to store stuffed animals or dolls in.  Hang it low so that children can reach the toys.
Use a clear over-the-door shoe organizer to store your child's collections.  label the dividers with fun facts about the contents.
When it's time to get rid of an old dresser, save the drawers.  Attach wheels to the bottoms to create roll-away, under-the-bed storage bins.

WHAT'S HAPPENING...

Our Teddy Bears, the two's ...
in February we talked about love.  We love our Moms, Dads, brothers, sisters, friends,
pets, ourselves and where we live.  We made heart prints to show how we love!
Later in the month we talked about healthy habits; like brushing our teeth and hair,
eating healthy foods (some of our children love broccoli!).
We used toothbrushes to paint with.  Then we talked about transportation
and how we get to and from places.  We put a lot of pictures around the room of
bikes, cars, planes, and trains.  During activity time the children made shape trains.

The Bunny Bunch, the threes ...
during February talked about Groundhog's Day,  the Chinese New Year,
friendship/Valentine's Day and President's Week.
During Groundhog  and Chinese New Year Week, we made a groundhog
peeking out of his hole and a Chinese lantern.
During Valentine's Week we talked about our friends and family. We made many heart art projects.
For President's Week, we made a log cabin and pictures of "Abe" and "George."
We even talked about the importance of taking care of our teeth.

Our 4's, our Junior Kindergarten ...
this month is welcoming in Spring!
An exciting month full of surprises is waiting for us just around the corner!
March is the month when Spring begins, when we will celebrate St. Patrick's Day
and Easter, and we will start the "BookIt! reading contest!
We will have a lot of fun celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss in the first week of the month.
The second week we will learn about the weather during Spring, and especially March winds.
Our Spring mood will help us next week to learn more about the birds, butterflies and insects
at our new science center!  We will continue our cooking tradition
with Chef Combo Fantastic and have fun, fun, fun!

Our 5's, our Kindergartener's...
are looking forward to March this year.  We are hoping for brighter, dryer and a little warmer weather
so we can enjoy the outdoors!  The first week of March we will start our BOOKIT! contest.
We will continue through April.  We are ready to read!!!
We are also going to be talking about good nutrition, for strong, healthy bodies.
The second week we will be going back in time to learn  about dinosaurs
and other fossils paleontologists find in the ground.
The third week of March begins on St. Patrick's Day!
We will try once again to set a trap, for a leprechaun-Wish us luck!
The last week of March we will be looking for and talking about the changes Spring will bring.
It looks like another exciting month in the 5's.
