MONIQUE'S
CORNER |
|
| Hi
Everyone, For those new to Tiny Tot, and a quick update for our returning families……Each year Tiny Tot “adopts” a needy family through Heartland Alliance. Adopting a family is a huge endeavor and a commitment we take very seriously. As a school community we support our family in a number of ways. We have a food drive in the fall and spring. In November we try to supply Thanksgiving Dinner and in December, we provide Christmas gifts and dinner. There is an ongoing list of needs and wishes next to the parent board in the entrance way. Our family consists of Monique and two young children. Growing up Monique lived in an abusive home. She left home at 17. She married young and her spouse abused her and the children as they came along. Monique escaped with her children to a Heartland Alliance shelter and has been transitioned to her own apartment. Due to the severity of the abuse, we have decided to stay with this family for a second year. Monique is 25, Kayla is 5 and Jeremiah is 2. They are doing so much better than a year ago. Kayla has reached the low end of average on the growth chart and started kindergarten in September. Jeremiah is completely potty trained. Monique is humbled and so grateful for our help and support. Donations of any kind are always needed, accepted and greatly appreciated. A few words about additional projects at TinyTot…… We collect Campbell product labels. We “bank” them and are able to purchase various supplies for the children. Box Tops for Education are great. For every box top we collect we earn $.10. The drop off canister for both is the”Campbells Soup Can”on the parent shelve in the front hall. Box Tops can be found on a large number of food items, along with many other household products. You can visit the Box Top for Education web site for more information. Pennies… we are trying to collect 1,000,000 pennies. We started in September, 2009 and so far have collected 38,000 pennies or $380.00. The Penny Jar is also on our parent shelf. From time to time we will fill a basket with store bought treats and place it in the front hall. We are on the honor system and it is up to you to decide what each treat is worth. We will use the proceeds to cover special events like the Storyteller Lady and a visit from Santa. If you would like to provide store bought items for our basket, please sign up on the list in the hall. All proceeds from all fundraising goes directly to defray costs for activities for the children. Please support them any way you can. Thank you.
