Summer's Here!!!!
Summer is fun and exciting at Tiny Tot.
We do spend more time outside.
The playground is a wonderful outside classroom.
We can only apply sunscreen and insect repellent
if you send it to Tiny Tot with your child.
This is due to the fact that some children may have
allergic reactions to chemicals found in these products.
All products must be labeled with your child's name.
Also please check your child's extra clothing.
They have grown and it is summer.
Your child should have a full set of clothing,
(long and short pants, shirt, undergarments, socks
and a sweatshirt or lightweight jacket).
Gym shoes are the only acceptable shoes for outdoor activities.
For the safety of your children
please follow these simple instructions.
We're planning wonderful summertime activities.

Where did Father's Day Come From?
Father's Day began when Mrs. Dodd wanted a special day to honor her father, who was widowed and raised his six small children by himself on a farm in Washington state.  She proposed setting aside a special day to honor fathers in 1909.  The first Father's Day was observed on June 19, 1910 in Spokane, Washington.  It slowly caught on in other states and in1924 President Calvin Coolidge supported the idea of a national Father's Day.  Finally, in 1966, President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday in June a national celebration honoring fathers.  This special day has become a day not only to honor your father, but all men who act as a father figure-grandfathers, stepfathers, uncles and big brothers.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

WHAT'S HAPPENING...

Our Teddy Bears, the two's ...
We started off May talking about our mom's & made them some very special gifts.
We then talked about Ladybugs & made some using a paper plate.
We looked around for them outside, but I think it was a bit cold for them yet.
After that we learned about animals we see at the zoo.
We dressed up like monkeys & pretended to be "jumping on the bed!"
We read Good Night Gorilla & sang on of our favorite songs about Elephants.
To end May we had Wacky Week! We got to dress in our pajamas,
paint with our paintbrushes backwards & use toothbrushes to make some special creations...
what a wacky week! In June we will be talking about water,
animals that live in water, boats & ships and last but not least our dad's!

The Bunny Bunch, the threes ...
May was a fun time for the threes. We learned about community helpers and safety.
The best thing we did this month was making an ice cream truck out of a box.
The children absolutely love it.
In June we will talk about zoo animals, summer fun, dads and America.
For our summer fun program please make sure your child wears gym shoes no sandals or crocks.
Please apply sunscreen before you come to school we will reapply it in the afternoon.
Looking forward to a great summer.

Our 4's, our Junior Kindergarten ...
May was an exciting month filled with lots of outdoor learning and play.
We started off making presents for our mothers for Mother’s Day.
Then we learned all about ladybugs, and Spring time.
Our favorite week was WACKY WEEK! We had silly hat day, backwards day, and Pajama Day!
We finished our month off with Pet Week.
We learned all about how to care for many different kinds of animals that you can keep as pets.
Next Month begins our Summer Camp! We will be enjoying many fieldtrips and water days!
We will be performing our End Of The Year concert and celebrating our year together!

Our 5's, our Kindergartener's...
May was interesting and full of learning excitement!
We celebrated Mother’s Day and made beautiful picture frames, water pots, and cards for our loving moms.
We learned about our family roots and created our own family crests;
we were fascinated to see different countries’ coats of arms and learn about the history of our families.
We talked about the rainforest and the different animals living there,
and how important the rainforest is to the people.
We planted our tomatoes, lettuce, and flowers outside in the garden and loved it!
We also learned about pets and how to take care of them.
We set up a pet store and a pet clinic in our room, played veterinarians, and cured our furry friends.
Next month we will learn about the ocean and the magical life there.
We will learn the names of the oceans and where they are located on the globe;
we’ll also talk about the terrible ecologic catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico and what it means to the people living in the vicinities.
We will have the End of the Year celebration on Wednesday, June 9 2010 at Monastero’s restaurant, 3935 W Devon in Chicago.
We will then have the funniest week ever to celebrate the end of the school year;
we called it BAM! Week for Body And Mind and we’ll learn how to keep our bodies and minds healthy and strong.
That last week we’ll have Pajama day and we’ll say our good-byes to the friends that are leaving.
We’ll kick off Summer Camp in the third week of June with new energy and expectations of loads of new wonderful memories!
