Summer's Here!!!!
Summer is fun and exciting at Tiny Tot.
We do spend more time outside.
The playground is a wonderful outside classroom.
We can only apply sunscreen and insect repellent
if you send it to Tiny Tot with your child.
This is due to the fact that some children may have
allergic reactions to chemicals found in these products.
All products must be labeled with your child's name.
Also please check your child's extra clothing.
They have grown and it is summer.
Your child should have a full set of clothing,
(long and short pants, shirt, undergarments, socks
and a sweatshirt or lightweight jacket).
Gym shoes are the only acceptable shoes for outdoor activities.
For the safety of your children
please follow these simple instructions.
We're planning wonderful summertime activities.

Where did Father's Day Come From?
Father's Day began when Mrs. Dodd wanted a special day to honor her father, who was widowed and raised his six small children by himself on a farm in Washington state.  She proposed setting aside a special day to honor fathers in 1909.  The first Father's Day was observed on June 19, 1910 in Spokane, Washington.  It slowly caught on in other states and in1924 President Calvin Coolidge supported the idea of a national Father's Day.  Finally, in 1966, President Lyndon Johnson sighed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday in June a national celebration honoring fathers.  This special day has become a day not only to honor your father, but all men who act as a father figure-grandfathers, stepfathers, uncles and big brothers.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

WHAT'S HAPPENING...

Our Teddy Bears, the two's ...
during "Great Gardens Week" we used flower shaped sponges dipped in paint to create our own gardens.
We also talked about lions, tigers and bears.  The children made lions by painting paper plates brown.
After they dried, the children glued brown string and eyes on.  Then, we talked about ladybugs.
We went on a bug hunt outside, explored bugs in the sensory table with magnifying glasses,
made our very own ladybugs and marble painted with red and black paint!
We are very excited for Summer to start.

The Bunny Bunch, the threes ...
during the month of May, we talked about flowers and what they need to grow.
The children had fun planting seeds and watching them grow.
We then gave them as presents for Mother's Day.
We also talked about fruits and vegetables and how they are so healthy for our body.
We have fun making a collage, painting and sorting fruits and vegetables.
We enjoyed talking about bugs, such as butterflies, ladybugs, bumble bees, grasshoppers and caterpillars.
The children had fun cutting, gluing and painting their favorite bugs.
We recently been talking about the American flag and the three colors, red, white and blue.
The children used these three colors for marble painting to make this beautiful artwork.

Our 4's, our Junior Kindergarten ...
this month learned about insects.  We had lots of fun making spiders, ladybugs, and bees.
We also learned about caterpillars and butterflies.  We watched our caterpillars grow and turn into butterflies.
We learned about the life cycles of the butterfly.  We also learned about fairytales.
We have a great time reading Cinderella, the Three Bears and Jack and the Beanstalk.
We even planted lima beans.  We have learned all the letters of the alphabet
and are now working on the vowel sounds A, E, I, O, and U.
We had our pizza party celebrating all of the books we read for Book-It.
We will be planting flowers in the week to come.

Our 5's, our Kindergartener's...
when talking about insects we created our own bugs.
During butterfly unit we painted butterflies and talked about symmetry.
We also sequenced a butterfly life cycle.
