PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES

Parent -Teacher Conferences were held the week of May 15th.
We really appreciated the opportunity to sit down and talk with you about all of the wonderful things your child is doing each and every day.  Because you came, shows us just how important your child is to you. You realize, like us, that they are our hope for the future.

Summer's Here!!!!
Summer is fun and exciting at Tiny Tot.
We do spend more time outside.
The playground is a wonderful outside classroom.
We can only apply sunscreen and insect repellent
if you send it to Tiny Tot with your child.
This is due to the fact that some children may have
allergic reactions to chemicals found in these products.
All products must be labeled with your child's name.
Also please check your child's extra clothing.
They have grown and it is summer.
Your child should have a full set of clothing,
(long and short pants, shirt, undergarments, socks
and a sweatshirt or lightweight jacket).
Gym shoes are the only acceptable shoes for outdoor activities.
For the safety of your children
please follow these simple instructions.
We're planning wonderful summertime activities.

Where did Father's Day Come From?
Father's Day began when Mrs. Dodd wanted a special day to honor her father, who was widowed and raised his six small children by himself on a farm in Washington state.  She proposed setting aside a special day to honor fathers in 1909.  The first Father's Day was observed on June 19, 1910 in Spokane, Washington.  It slowly caught on in other states and in1924 President Calvin Coolidge supported the idea of a national Father's Day.  Finally, in 1966, President Lyndon Johnson sighed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday in June a national celebration honoring fathers.  This special day has become a day not only to honor your father, but all men who act as a father figure-grandfathers, stepfathers, uncles and big brothers.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

WHAT'S HAPPENING...

Our Teddy Bears, the two's ...
The children used paints and collage materials to decorate the paper plates that were used to create this cute caterpillar.  The butterflies were painted with watercolors.
One of our math activities during gardening week was creating this beautiful shape garden.
We used flowers as paint brushes to create this beautiful display.  The children used their handprints to create these garden scenes. First, the children went on a nature walk around the playground, collecting leaves, sticks and flowers.  Then they used this material to make gorgeous garden wreaths and flower sun catchers.  During Marvelous Moms Week, the children used dress cutouts, buttons and shredded paper to create mommy dolls.

The Bunny Bunch, the threes ...
during the month of May we talked about different Springtime topics.  During Bug Week, we painted our feet and created footprint butterflies.  We also made colorful tissue butterflies.  We received our caterpillars and will watch them form into butterflies.  We also talked about weather and made cotton ball painted clouds and windsocks to hang in our classroom.
We had an exciting time during birds and hatching week.  We made bird feeders, chicks hatching and feather paintings.  We were also excited to watch the eggs in the 4's hatch into cute chicks.

Our 4's, our Junior Kindergarten ...
using plastic summer shapes and liquid paint makes our sun catchers really shine.
Everything is growing in our room, even our seeds that are taped to the window.
We had a great time making these wonderful caterpillars.
Soon our real caterpillars will be butterflies, just wait and see!

Our 5's, our Kindergartener's...
when talking about animals that lay eggs each of us drew an animal that hatches from an egg.
We also made a nest using moss.  We decorated our own eggs and glued them on our nest.
They talking about butterflies, we painted ours with watercolors.
We also decorated flowers by coloring coffee filters with markers. We then sprayed
them with water to blend the colors. During Bug Week, we made our own bugs using
the three parts: head, thorax and abdomen.
