NEWS AND NOTES

Our Summer activities continue. The children are enjoying summer fun and outdoor activities.  We do spend more time outside.
We can only apply sunscreen and insect repellent if you supply it and complete the ointment permission slip.
It would be a big help if you would apply sunscreen in the morning before your child comes to school.
All products must be labeled with your child's name.
Also, please check your child's clothing.  We should have a full set of clothing.
This full set of clothing should include long and short pants, shirt, undergarments, socks and a sweatshirt or lightweight jacket.

On June 9, our Tiny Tot children performed our “End Of The Year” music concert at the gorgeous Monastero’s Ristorante.
We all worked very hard all year to practice for this one event.
Ms. Tanya, our music teacher from Music Scholars, came in for music class every Monday.
The children gave it their best! They all looked so beautiful.
They all performed incredibly well.
Not only did the children learn several songs, but they also learned
many detailed sequential movements and recited their own lines.
This was truly one of our best evenings to enjoy the company
of all of our children and their families.
At the end of the concert, the Five’s class
received their diplomas and sang a beautiful goodbye song about graduation and moving on.
We are so proud of all of the children.
Thank you to all of the parents for providing so many delicious treats for our reception.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT TRACKER**

One to Two, Two to Three, Three to Four, Four to Five, Five to Six
Every child's development is unique and complex. Although children develop through a generally predictable sequence of steps and milestones, they may not proceed through these steps in the same way or at the same time. A child's development is also greatly influenced by factors in his or her environment and the experiences he or she has. The information in this guide explains what child development experts consider to be "widely-held expectations" for what an average child might achieve within a given year. Please consider what you read in the context of your child's unique development.
Check out a snapshot of each year. For more in-depth information click on the link below for                                                                             specific areas of development.

WHAT'S HAPPENING...

Our Teddy Bears, the two's ...
We started the month of June talking about the ocean & what animals live in it.
We talked about our dad's & made them frames using old CD's.
Then we talked about boats & ships.
We played with plastic boats in the water table & did some "oar" (popsicle sticks)painting.
Every Tuesday in the summer we are having splash day! We bring out the water table, have 2 small wading pools & a sprinkler! We have so much fun!
For the rest of the summer we will be talking about the 4th of July, the wild west, baseball, air transportation & space. We cannot believe the school year is almost done!

The Bunny Bunch, the threes ...
Had a fun and busy June. We had so many fun things to learn about.
We talked about zoo animals, the different kinds of sports, our five senses,
our special Dads and finally our countries birthday.
We made red, white and blue cakes and sang Happy Birthday.
During July and August we have a lot of things to do.
We will have a puppet show and make a cake that looks like an alligator.
We will have a bug and insect week.
We will have a circus week, bubble fun and an end of the Summer party!
Just a few reminders:
Please have your child wear gym shoes to school,
it's a matter of safety; crocs and sandals are not safe to wear at school.
Show and share is on Thursday only.
Please do not let your child bring toys to school on any other day. Thanks!

Our 4's and 5's,
Summer camp is FUN!
We started it with a walking trip to the forest reserve Emily Oaks and we loved it!
We saw there were lots of animals and birds, fish and turtles too.
Than we spent some time at the playground and had enormous fun!
The second week we went on a trip to Brookfield Zoo and learned a lot about bears.
We also saw Australian animals, bison, wolves, African animals and much more.
We had lunch at the zoo and drove back to Tiny Tot fulfilled with many happy memories.
We will continue our summer fun with the field trip to Exploritorium.
Then in July, we will go learn golfing at the Novelty Golf in Skokie;
we will celebrate the landing on the moon day during our trip to Kohl’s Children Museum and learn how to make butter in Wagner Farm.
August will start with loads of fun in Brunswick bowling-
we love that game! We will finish the last week of the summer camp by having team competition games
in the park across the street and by preparing our school for the vacation.
Tiny Tot will be closed on Friday, July 2 and Monday, July 5 in observance of the Independence Day.
Our last day of school will be August 14, and after that, we will have a two weeks’ vacation.
We will be back to school on Monday, August 30 for a new and exciting year of learning and having fun together!
Have a wonderful time and welcome back for the 2010-2011!
