We here at Tiny Tot continue
to be amazed by Chef Jorge!

Here he is cooking up some delicious
Chicken Noodle Soup on a chilly day.

Kitchen Trivia: How many cans of soup does
it take to feed 52 kids and about 10 staff members?

*Submit your guesses to Miss Sarah
to win a delicious recipe.

1 Brownie Mix
¼ to ½ c. Kahlua
2 boxes of Chocolate Mousse
(Jello, I like to use one milk chocolate
and one dark chocolate on the bottom)
1 bag Heath Bits
1 (12 oz.) container of Cool Whip

Bake brownies according to package directions.
Let Cool.
Punch holes in brownies with fork, pour liquor over.
Whip mousse according to directions.
Cut brownies into small squares and
place ½ in bottom of bowl.
Cover with mousse; add Heath Bits
and then add a layer of Cool Whip.
Repeat layers.
Save some bits to sprinkle on top
of the last layer of Cool Whip.
Put in refrigerator.

Enjoy!

Random Acts of Kindness

Take on the kindness challenge.
Encourage everyone in your family to do something
nice for someone else every day.
Explain to your youngster that kindness can be as simple
as lending a crayon to a classmate
or smiling at someone who looks sad.
At dinner, share your kind acts with each other.
Maybe you got lunch for a busy coworker,
or your child told the bus driver that he’s a good driver.
Ask your youngster how she felt when she was being kind –
and how she thinks the other person felt.
On your kitchen calendar, have your child write or draw
a picture about the kind act they do every day.

Random Acts of Kindness Day is 2/17

Tiny Tot Fundraising:

Due to your help and
Campbell’s Box Top donations,
we were able to get an
amazing Banana Tree Kit!
This scientific exploration grows
real bananas from seeds,
and grow over 1 foot in a month!
We’ll be excited to see what happens!
We have also purchased an Aerobics Tape!
We love new ways to expend energy
during these cold winter months! Thank you!

Easy ways to get involved!

The teachers and I will be attending
Insights 2009 in February .
Insights is a conference sponsored
by the Illinois Childcare Association.
We will be attending workshops
during the day as part of our
in-service training.

FEBRUARY IS DENTAL HEALTH MONTH!

How do you keep your teeth healthy?

1. Brush your teeth at least twice a day.
2. Limit sugary foods and drink.
3. Eat crunchy foods such as raw carrots, apples and celery.  These foods help scale tartar from teeth.
4. Eat calcium rich foods such as cheese, milk, and dark green vegetables.  Calcium builds strong bones and teeth.

Last, but not least February is dental health month,
so we will stress the importance of brushing and flossing our teeth.

Our 4's, our Junior Kindergarten ...
January brought us an investigation of winter and the animals that enjoy it!
We made unique penguins, painted snowstorm snowmen with marbles,
and enjoyed imagining what we would create with snow. We loved exploring the arctic
and learning about polar bears. Did you know they are the largest bear?
February brings celebrations and us talking about things we love;
animals, our country, our friends and family, and our bodies.
We look forward to sharing and celebrating this!

Our 5's, our Kindergartener's...
In January, we decorated snowmen for our family projects.
We also made winter storm pictures painting with bubble wrap.
We also made hibernation den pictures when we talked about animals in winter.
