TINY TOT TIMES

December 2009

NEWS AND NOTES

December has arrived, with anticipation of the holidays.  We are having fun
decorating the classrooms and sharing in the children's delight.
This is such a hectic time of year for all of us.  It is especially important to take
time to share the magic of the season with the special people in our lives.

Pot Luck dinners will take place
in January when things have settled down a bit.
You will receive information in January.

Mrs. Claus will visit Tiny Tot on
Tuesday, December 15th in the morning.
and tell us some Santa stories!
Santa is very busy but said he will visit us,
just doesn’t know when!!
A note from the Director.

Thank you to those of you who participated in our cookie dough sale.

Our goal was for every child to sell 10 tubs of dough which would have given us a total of 600 tubs.
We sold 487, which includes a few extras. 30 out of 55 families participated.
After a check to Savory Foods for $2897.65, we will have a profit of $1972.35.!!!!

The Four year old class was our winner and
the Bendrey Family was our top seller with 56 tubs.
That’s a lot of cookies!
The Bendrey’s will receive a $50.00 credit toward their tuition
and the four year class will have a celebration on the day of their choice.

Thank you again to all that participated.
Fund raising is a part of our budget and helps offset the expense
of our “wish list” items or unexpected “big items”!

The cookie dough will arrive on Tuesday, December 8th, at 2:30 PM.

The weather is getting colder.
Please dress your child appropriately.
We love to go outside and play, weather permitting.
Mittens, hats and scarves keep their little hands
and heads warm while they are out on the playground.
Please label these items.
It is not unusual that we have four
or five pair of the same boots.
Please bring a pair of slippers for
your child to wear during the day.

In December we will be talking about the different holiday's we celebrate.
Christmas, Hanukkah, Eid & Kwanzaa.
We will also use our senses to talk about what we see,
hear & smell during the holidays. We hope everyone has a wonderful
holiday season & a very happy & healthy New Year!

In the Bunny Bunch, the threes ...
NOVEMBER WAS A TIME FOR LEARNING....
A TIME FOR SHARING....
A TIME FOR BEING THANKFUL.
IN DECEMBER WE WILL
TALK ABOUT THE HOLIDAYS AND
TRADITIONS EACH FAMILY CELEBRATES!

In our 4's, our Junior Kindergarten ...
we had a wonderful month full of fun and learning.
We started out with a fieldtrip to a play called "Apollo: To the Moon."
We learned about outer space and space travel.
We pretended to be astronauts who landed on the moon.
The second week of November was all about healthy foods.
We made Stone Soup and learned about the Food Pyramid.
The third and fourth weeks of November were all about Thanksgiving.
We made Native American headdresses, teepees and many turkeys for our art projects.
We made a special handprint turkey keepsake for our parents.
Then we ended our month off with one more fieldtrip to see the play "Alice in Wonderland."
The month of December will be filled with celebrating the holidays
and the love we have for our families and friends.

This isn't just a turkey as you can plainly see.
I made it with my hands, which are a part of me.
It comes with lots of love especially to say,
I hope you have a very, Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Our 5's, our Kindergartener's...
In December we will learn about our five senses- seeing, hearing, touching, tasting and smelling.
We will learn about holiday traditions around the world and have fun decorating our room.
We will go visit the elder people across the street
in” Robineau” nursing home, sing some songs and ask them questions.
During the second week we will have a field trip to the theatre to see “The Nutcracker”.
On Wednesday, December 16th we will celebrate the holidays by giving a concert
and showing you the result of our hard work and talents.
The last week before vacation we will learn about holiday feelings and givings,
and how do we feel when we give or receive.
We will welcome you back to school again on Monday, January 4th for
another year full of surprises and fun learning! Happy holidays!
