December 2004

NEWS AND NOTES

December has arrived, with anticipation of the holidays.  We are having fun decorating the classrooms and sharing in the children's delight.  This is such a hectic time of year for all of us.  It is especially important to take time to share the magic of the season with the special people in our lives.

Our Holiday Show is
Thursday, December 16th
at 7:00 p.m.
at the Holiday Inn on Touhy Ave.
Please have your child there
no later than 6:45 p.m.
Our 3,4 and 5 year-olds will delight
you with songs of the season.
When you come for the show,
please keep your children with
you until the teachers ask for them.
Please bring your baked goods directly
to the hotel, there will be a table
in the back of the room
for you to put them on.

We'd like to extend a special invitation
to our Toddler Parents to attend our
Holiday Show so you can see
what is in store for them next year.
We have found that to put our
littlest angels on the stage
is very overwhelming for them.

Santa Claus will visit Tiny Tot on
Tuesday, December 14th
It is customary for Santa to visit with
the Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten
together and then the Toddlers and
Three-year-olds.  It is a very exciting
morning here and really gets us in the spirit.

Thank you for you cookie dough
and popcorn orders.
The goodies will be delivered
on Wednesday, December 9th
at 12:oo noon.
If you work in the area and are
able to pick up your orders on
your lunch, please let us know.

WHAT'S HAPPENING...

Our Teddy Bears, the two's ...
made a counting tree and caterpillar to learn to count.
For our Fall Colors and Changes Week,
we did lots of fun activities including looking at leaves.
We decorated our own leaves.
The Christmas season is here and we turned our room into a Santa Wonderland
with a large Ho, Ho, Ho Santa and Mrs. Clause.
We also made stockings with our names on them and
welcomed snow by making our first snowmen of the season.

The Bunny Bunch, the threes ...
bid farewell to the leaves of fall with leaf prints.
During the first week of December we began creating a winter wonderland.
We made snow scenes and snowmen to decorate our classroom.
We also had fun with Circus Week. We made paper plate lions and circus clowns.

Our 4's, our Junior Kindergarten ...
enjoyed making terrific turtles during "T" Week.
Our stocking are put by the chimney with care...
Our Christmas stockings hold our wish lists.

Our 5's, our Kindergartener's...
during our unit on leaves we took a leaf walk
and made a collage with the leaves we found.
When we talked about our families, we drew a picture of a tree and
drew our family on the tree or brought in pictures to put on our tree.
We also talked about the sizes of our families and charted
how many people we have in our families.
We decorated stockings and hung them on our
classroom fireplace in celebration of the holidays.
