Our Book It Program is going
on
through the end of April.
The competition is building
as more books are being read.
Just take a look at the cutouts
around each child's name.
Research has
proven that
reading aloud to a child
is the single most important
factor in raising a reader.
By working together,
we can prepare children
to be successful at reading
and enjoy it for a lifetime.
At the end of the month
the children will receive
a reading award certificate
from Pizza Hut
good for a free,
one-topping Personal Pan Pizza.
Also,
April is National Poetry Month.
You might try reading
a little poetry for little ones.
HURRAY FOR READING! |

Five
Reasons Why Four Is The Perfect Age |
| |
|
|
1.
2. |
Four
delights in walks or bikes around the neighborhood. Four
still loves to collect treasures (sticks, flowers, etc.) on
these little jaunts. Fours still reports with great
enthusiasm that she met a neighbor- or a neighbor's cat on her
walk. Four walks holding your hand happily.
Four has her own fashion sense. Fours wears the hood from
a Batman costume to the park or the
supermarket. In the latter, she asks with great innocence,
"Why is everyone looking at me?" |
 |
|
3. |
Four
sleeps through the night, is well past potty training
and doesn't turn the house upside down when you take a
shower. Four makes you miss your baby sometimes
but lets you delight in this little independent person
she's become-one who no longer needs you to tote around
a small army's worth of supplies. Four still likes
it if you have snacks in your purse, though. |
|
4. |
Four sings
and dances, unabashedly. four colors amazing pictures,
with giant heads and stick bodies and big smiles.
Four lives books and is into leters and numbers.
Four can do puzzles and hang upside down on the monkey
bars. Four makes you laugh when she says, " I'll
put a duck on your head!" |
|
5. |
Four is
sweet and cuddly and full of over-the-top praises for
everyone she loves like, "You're the best mom I've seen
on Earth." Four is also brutally honest when she says,
"You have a giant bottom." |

WHAT'S
HAPPENING... |
| |
|
Our Teddy Bears, the
two's ... We started March off talking about Dr. Seuss.
We painted with cups in tribute to the book Hop on Pop.
Later in the week we painted with apples & read Ten Apples Up On Top!
Then we talked about people who help in our community.
Such as police, firefighters, doctors, mail carriers, and teachers.
Lastly, we discussed the wind and how it blows things around.
We made kites & painted by blowing colored bubbles on paper!
Next month we will talk about baby animals, turtles, frogs/tadpoles &
gardening! |
|

|
| |
|
The Bunny Bunch, the
threes ... What a marvelous March the Three's had!
We talked about windy weather, Ireland and St. Patrick's Day.
The leprechaun sure played tricks on us and messed up our room, but he
also left us some presents, too!
In April we will have many fun activities about farm life, Spring,
flowers, Earth and dinosaurs.
We will continue to work on our letter recognition and practice printing
our letters.

|
Our 4's, our Junior
Kindergarten... We had a March full of Madness!
We started out with a week full of Dr. Seuss books and crafts to
celebrate his birthday.
We made Cat In The Hat hats and real green eggs and ham.
Then we dove right into March winds and made windmills and kites.
Next, we learned about birds and butterflies.
We made beautiful butterflies to decorate our walls for Spring.
We also had a wonderful time at our fieldtrip to a play called “Jack
Sprat Low Fat World Tour”
that taught us all about eating nutritious foods and how they help us
grow and stay strong and healthy.
We had a St. Patrick’s Day party, and were amazed to discover
how much mess little Leprechauns can make.
We made a trap, but did not catch any Leprechauns this year.
All of the children had fun cleaning up all of the footprints and green
toys spread out all over the room.
The last week of March was focused on learning all about insects.
We made spiders and ladybugs.
We learned about the different characteristics associated with many
kinds of insects.
Next month will prove to be another busy and fun month.
We will learn about baby animals, frogs, turtles, and spring gardens.
We will celebrate Earth Day and enjoy many days out in the spring
weather.

Our 5's, our
Kindergartener's... March was a fun month in our class!
We enjoyed the last winter days and welcomed the so wanted spring!
We celebrated Dr. Seuss’ Birthday by reading his books mostly all by
ourselves
and by cooking green eggs and ham, which was such a delicious snack!
We explored and played in Seussville University at
http://www.seussville.com/games
and had a lot of fun moments, learning together with Dr. Seuss’
characters!
During the fairy tales and fables week we learned about honor, grace,
and nobility as well as older types of music and dance such as the
minuet or waltz.
We also learned about nutrition labels and how to read them on the
different foods
we buy from the grocery store. We worked REALLY hard to catch a
Leprechaun,
but…unfortunately we couldn’t and we have to try it again next year.
We talked about why the season changed and how the earth moves in the
sky around the sun.
We also started our long term gardening project by planting been stalks
and observing their growth.
In April we will celebrate Passover and go on egg hunts for Easter!
We will continue with gardening and we will plant not only beautiful
flowers,
but also tomatoes and salad for our vegetable garden.
We will learn about the trees and their parts and what they need to
grow.
We will go to visit our friends next door in “Robineau” nursing home,
wish them happy spring and do some fun projects together.
We will talk about birds and insects and, weather is permitting,
will finally go observe nature in Emily Oaks Park.
We will review how important it is to preserve our planet and ways to do
this like
Re-use, Reduce, and Recycle!
We will meet oviparous animals and learn all about them
and how they are different from the other animals.
